8 Acts of Love Image.png

8 Acts of Love is an interactive exhibition experience inspired by outofsite_chi artist collective’s archive https://www.outofsitechicago.org/. Over the last twelve years, this international collective, comprising women, trans and non-binary artists, have come together through public performance, often generated collaboratively and multimodally, from diverse parts of the globe. United through the transformative practice of performance art and practice research, the work in the outofsite_chi archive has been co-curated as an ‘act of love’, by Fine Art Programme Leader and artist Dr. Alice Bell and Out of Site organiser and artist in residence, Carron Little. This undertaking bought together the sites of Chicago USA and Lincoln UK, in an enmeshed pedagogic and performative exploration of how diverse artistic and social encounters can engage different places, spaces, artists, students and educators to open up new avenues of transnational understanding.

Our feminine and fierce collective, bridges Italy and the UK. We work with adults in education, enabling deep transformational encounter through multimodal arts practices; spiritual, somatic, and playful. We inhabit relational spaces wherein processes of unlearning, becoming and emancipation occur co-affectively. For ‘Artfulness’, we offered a co-presentation and living workshop, through which we shared our practice, bringing awareness to precarious situations and beliefs. By honouring the traumatic, we will transmuted this art-fully and care-fully into something more powerful, beautiful, owned. Our rebelliousness challenges that which is no longer ‘of service’, resourcing ourselves and our collaborators with richer pedagogies for life.

Return is a performance that  the unwavering spirit of women's struggle and quest for freedom.  Through  movements and poignant symbolism, it vividly portrays the women resilience against adversity. The piece becomes a war of empowerment, embodying the strength of those who fight for their rights and dignity. "Return" weaves a powerful narrative of hope, inspiring audiences to recognize the indomitable force that women bring to the forefront of societal change and liberation.

What's She Doing Now came about through our (Alice Bell & Marina Sossi) conversations around sisterhood, femininity, misunderstandings, and the need for clarity within ourselves, within female relationships and within our practice. It is about love, care and kindness. A desire to revalue and nurture one another, ourselves, yourselves, our feminine families, friendships and allies. As we approach Point.fifty, (Alice) and teeter just beyond it, (Marina) this moment presents a time to celebrate, interrogate and understand what it is to be Woman, collectively, individually and reparatively.

TEARING scratch workshopped themes through our bodies, voices, text, movement, film, play, risk and various objects to interrogate ‘a desire for’, ‘a fear of’, and ‘experience with’ TEARING. The space created is part performance, part ritual, part installation, part dance and will move between micro, macro, private, public, intimate and distant places. The subtext will be the unspoken and unfinished. Same, same but different - to get lost, to sync, to transform.

ATRIOS was a living laboratory of time-based, living, dying, and reoccurring expressions. It asked questions such as how does the body grow/flourish with/like/as nature? What grows where it shouldn’t and why do we remove it? What is the alchemical process?  What is discarded and left out, abandoned? Lost (found, noticed, seen reappropriated)?  How can the naked human body exist within a particular politics (animal and human) of the landscape and place?  What are the rights of the body (who: animal) in space? Private and public ‘nakedness/exposure’ – who decides? How can I protect myself?  How is trust and care established in the landscape? Voyeuristic? Being watched…Watching…?
